To the disgrace of everything and everything
Jules Verne is considered one of the forerunners of science fiction. He is the author of numerous travel, science fiction, history, geography and crime novels. Among them, the publishers undoubtedly distinguished Twenty Thousand Miles of Submarine Navigation . A comic book, the second part of the trilogy (which includes: Children of Captain Grant, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea , Mysterious Island) was prepared by Fabrizio Lo Bianco and Francesco Lo Storto. The plot of the volume does not differ too much from the original, although – for obvious reasons – it has been shortened: British ships are attacked by a huge creature suddenly emerging from the depths; On a scientific expedition involving the famous scientist Pierre Aronnax, his faithful servant Conseil and the “king of the harpooners” Ned Land, the heroes await many undersea adventures that can take your breath away.
The novel of the cloak and sword
Alexandre Dumas is a French author who wrote such historical and adventure novels as: The Count of Monte Cristo (1845), the series about the Musketeers (1844-1848) or the one about Valois (1845-1848). The Three Musketeers were published as part of the reviewed comic-book seriesby Fabrizio Lo Bianco (yes, that name has already appeared) and Andres José Mossa. The story about the young provincial d’Artagnan and his three friends – Athos, Portosa and Aramis, enchanted in the comic book, will surely appeal to all fans of the genre. As a result of an unfortunate coincidence, the heroes get caught up in an international scandal in which the honor of the Queen of France is at stake. The attempt to prevent the embarrassment of the sovereign could be successful if only four companions faced Cardinal de Richelieu and the cunning Milady. One for all, all for one!
New series – new freshness
The volumes of the Adaptations of Literature series, published in September, will easily delight even the most demanding comic book readers. The stories told have been shortened, which, however, does not have a direct impact on the reader’s feelings (the most important plot aspects have been included). Of course, if someone wants to know the story with details, I encourage you to reach for the original, but if you want to refresh the classics or get to know them initially, reading the comic seems like a great idea. The graphics in both volumes suit me very well. Due to different subjects, the colors are not uniform, but it does not interfere with reading. The only drawback is the cover – a classic in a hardcover would look much more dignified on the shelf (and also with a critical commentary, as in the reviewed one some time agoOdyssey – a dream!). Nevertheless, to the reader’s delight, Egmont is already planning to publish new volumes entitled The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , Mark Twain and Ivanhoe Walter Scott. So – wait impatiently for the next review.
