It is now Anthony Mackie who is Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe , taking over the role from Chris Evans. Mackie will play the role in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order , which will be the first Captain film in the MCU without Evans. Although there were rumors that Chris could appear in the film, the actor seems pleased with the fact that he passed the torch to Mackie. However, it’s still uncertain what happened to Steve Rogers in the MCU since he appeared as an old man at the end of Avengers: Endgame , with speculation in the series Falcon and the Winter Soldier suggesting he settled on the moon. Evans addressed the possibility of his return during a panel at C2E2 in Chicago over the weekend .
It’s hard because, you know, I love the role so much. He [Captain America] means a lot to me, I really do think so. I think there are more Steve Rogers stories to tell, of course. But at the same time, I am very worried about him. [Cap] He’s become such a shiny little treasure to me that I love so much that I just don’t want to spoil it in any way. I was part of something that was very special for a period of time and in a way it ended very well. As much as I’m attached to this role and I love telling these stories and working with these people, right now I just don’t feel completely comfortable with it.
Evans explained.

What draws Evans to comic book adaptations?
The actor also answered the question of why he is so eager to do comic book adaptations.
It wasn’t a planned decision. I didn’t say ‘comics!’ … However, the more of these movies you do, the more research you do before the movie, the more you become a fan, you know? And you start to see what great characters and stories they are, and that’s the starting point for the movies… All these creative people come together trying to work on the same intangible idea. The comics give everyone a common ground to say ‘we’ve all seen it’. We all know how we felt when we read it, when we saw it. And this is the starting point. And it really is incredibly helpful when you make a movie out of it, not to mention a great fandom.
