It’s been almost a year since Robert Rodriguez announced that production on Spy Kids: Armageddon has ended. The director returns to the fan-favorite series 22 years after the release of the original film with an all-new cast. Zachary Levi ( Shazam! Fury of the Gods) and Gina Rodriguez ( Jane the Virgin) are the main parents of the film, while Everly Carganilla ( The Afterparty ) and newcomer Connor Esterson play the eponymous spy kids. In July, the film’s title was announced along with a first look and release date. Now Rodriguez has shared a new poster for the film.

My most ardent fanbase over the years has been my children’s films. Spy Kids audience . These kids watch these movies over and over again because they are action movies made for kids and families, especially at a time when they need a boost. Netflix came to me because Spy Kids movies did well on their service. They said, Could you make a series of movies that would do just as well? And I said: I would love to!
Rodriguez said earlier at Cinema-Con.
What is Spy Kids: Armageddon about ?

Will We Can Be Heroes get a sequel?
In addition to the Little Spy reboot , Netflix and Rodriguez are also working on a sequel to We Can Be Heroes.
They were shocked at how well he was doing. They call it unstoppable. They’ve never seen any movie behave like this. It just won’t end. Kids just won’t stop watching it. And I think that happened with the Spy Kids movies. It could never be tracked because you can’t tell how many times kids watch it on VCR or watch it on the Disney Channel. But now with their metrics, they can tell how many times a household watches something over and over again by completing it. Which in many cases, when it was a big opening weekend, didn’t mean people actually watched the entire movie. This means they watched five minutes or more.
Rodriguez told Collider when talking about Netflix and We Can Be Heroes .
Spy Kids: Armageddon is set to hit Netflix on September 22.
