Last week, it was announced that the highly anticipated film The Exorcist: The Confessor would be pushing its release date by a week. Now we’ve got a whole new look at the film with the second official trailer. Understandably, the film won’t reveal all its secrets to viewers until it debuts in theaters, but this new trailer offers even more glimpses of terror for fans of the series. If this latest trailer is any indication, the new movie could be one of the scariest movie events of the upcoming Halloween season. Watch the new trailer below!

What will happen in the movie?

Since the death of his pregnant wife in the Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom) has been raising their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett), alone. When Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear into the forest, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, a chain of events is triggered that will force Victor to confront evil. In her terror and desperation, she will find the only person alive who witnessed something similar: Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn).

For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, the actress who forever changed what happened to her daughter Regan five decades earlier. The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz as Katherine’s parents.
