This is the end of the oldest Polish distributor of video games. From the beginning of the year, the company struggled with great problems.
CDP is without a doubt a pioneer of the Polish computer games industry. In the 1990s, the company known as CD Projekt was the first to decide to legally distribute games, often attracting players with a low price (eXtra Klasyka series), attractive releases and the Polish language version (the famous Baldur’s Gate dubbing ). It was the first steps on the publishing market that contributed to the establishment of the now famous CD Projekt RED studio.
It should be remembered that in 2014 the company CD Projekt was split and the company, which is now failing, had little in common with the founders of the old CDP. The CD Projekt Group, which celebrates its triumphs on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, associates CD Projekt RED studio, GOG.COM digital store and CD Projekt RED Store. The CDP.pl store is currently owned by Merlin.pl. For some time, the fates of CDP and Klabater have also split, although the former company distributed Klabater’s latest production – Crossroads Inn. Despite the separation, the CDP continued to cooperate with the REDs, releasing The Witcher 3 with additions and was getting ready for the premiere of Cyberpunk 2077 . In the last months of last year, we also owe them the premiere of such titles as Greedfall , Blacksad and The Surge 2 on the Polish market.
The CDP problems became famous in January, just after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed . At that time, most of the employees were laid off. Since then, the company showed no signs of life until yesterday. As reported by Puls Biznesu , CDP filed a bankruptcy petition with the court and it was decided to secure the company’s assets. However, it should be remembered that the situation will not affect the premiere of the latest CD Projekt RED work. Even before the bankruptcy of CDP was announced, Redzi signed a contract with Cenega. The largest Polish distributor will release both Cyberpunk 2077 and new editions of The Witcher on our market .
