CD Projekt Red is currently best known for games such as The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 , as well as selling games via CD Projekt’s GOG platform. The company’s decision was published on social media on Thursday. Work is currently underway to suspend sales of CD Projekt products in Russia and Belarus. Its representatives say they are working with various distribution partners to completely end sales in these countries.
In light of the Russian military invasion in our neighboring country of Ukraine, until further notice the CD PROJEKT Group has made the decision to halt all sales of our games to Russia and Belarus,” the company said on Twitter on Thursday. “Today, we begin working with our partners to suspend digital sales and cease physical stock deliveries of CD PROJEKT Group products, as well as all games distributed on the GOG platform, to the territories of Russia and Belarus.
The creators realize that their decision will also affect those people in Russia and Belarus who have nothing to do with the situation, but hope that the decision will “electrify the global community” to take appropriate action.
The entire CD PROJEKT Group stands firmly on the side of the Ukrainian nation. While we are not a political entity that can directly influence state affairs, and we do not pursue it, we believe that commercial entities, when united, have the ability to inspire global changes in the hearts and minds of ordinary people. We know that this decision will affect players in Russia and Belarus, people who have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, but with this action we want to stimulate the global community even more to talk about what is happening in the heart of Europe.
The CD Projekt group previously condemned Russia’s actions and promised to help the victims of this act of aggression. You can find the entire statement here:
