CD Projekt Red bought The Molasses Flood studio

CD Projekt Red has officially announced the acquisition of the American studio The Molasses Flood. It is very possible that the new entity will be involved in a project from the Witcher or Cyberpunk universe.

The Polish studio bought 60% of The Molasses Flood shares – a developer known for games such as Drake Hollow or Flame in the Flood. Interestingly, the company from Boston will not be renamed the next department of CD Projekt (this was the case of Digital Scapes, which changed its name to CD Projekt Vancouver), but will retain full autonomy. The American studio will get the opportunity to develop its own project based on one of the Polish brands, so it will most likely be a side part of The Witcher or Cyberpunk.

The whole thing was commented on by Forrest Dowling, one of The Molasses Flood’s key employees, who previously worked on, for example, Bioshock: Infinite :

We are happy to cooperate with the Polish developer. Thanks to this, we will be able to hire many new talented employees, and also make even better games. CD Projekt did not want to “absorb” us, but to support our work and our own identity. We are very grateful and excited. We can promise that fans of our games will not be disappointed, and that each new production will keep getting better.

So far, nothing is known about the upcoming project The Molasses Flood, but we should get some new information soon.
