What do Xenomorphs, Vikings and the Lumière brothers have in common? Theoretically not much, but you will find it all in the latest issue of “CD-Action”!
It’s officially autumn, which means that the period of making a blanket burrito, drinking chocolate steaming from the heat and reaching for your favorite works of fantasy literature will soon begin. But what would you say to reach for something gaming between the next volumes of Lord of the Rings, read for the nth time ? As you can easily guess from the title, I mean “CD-Action” of course! What can we find in this noble magazine this time?
The first thing that definitely caught my eye was the review of Glitchpunk in Early Access . Surprisingly, this is not a malicious reference to a certain Polish production, but a clone of the second GTA full of neon glow , promising, but still needing some time to refine. It is also worth looking at Nine to Five from Redhill Games, because although it still requires a lot of work, the idea operates with a very interesting idea of a fight between three small units. The Dread Templar also looks interesting as it draws its full handfuls from legends such as the first Doom or Quake .
There is no doubt that one of the stars of this number is Deathloop , which turned out to be an extremely successful Groundhog Day, where our plans for theoretically singles game could be thwarted by another player. The cover, however, focused on the co-op Aliens: Fireteam Elite , which despite not being a breakthrough work, is by far the best xenomorph game in years, with an insane audiovisual setting. Although the preliminary evaluation of King’s Bounty II appeared only two months ago, in this issue we can read the review of the final version of the work from 1C Entertainment. It’s also worth taking a look at the little Song of Ironbecause although it is created by just one person, it shows how much can still be learned from the climate of Vikings and Norse myths.
When it comes to journalism, one cannot ignore the extensive history of the World Wide Web, written on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, from which we can at least learn how important Tim Berners-Lee is for the contemporary shape of the world. It is worth immersing yourself in the essay about what are the increasingly popular low poly and demaster. An article on pleographs, which shows us not only the above-mentioned machine, but also how Kazimierz Prószyński was close to taking a place in the history that the Lumière brothers are proudly taking up now, also provides an interesting reading.
Are you curious what else is hidden on the pages of the newest “CD-Action”? Or maybe you would like to see how the editors rated such productions as FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch , Psychonauts 2 , Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut , Naraka: Bladepoint , Encased , Dreamscaper , Fuga: Melodies of Steel , Rustler , Humankind or … Quake ? Do not hesitate, reach for the latest “CD-Action” and immerse yourself in a pleasant, relaxing reading! Of course, do not forget about the blanket and hot chocolate, because if it’s without a blanket and chocolate, let’s respect each other.
