A strange new era
The cavemen from the animation are characterized by a very specific way of being – they behave like a herd and want to be seen as well: as one big group, mutually dependent on each other and responsible for common welfare. Until at least. Grug and Ugga look after their children, Thunk, Eep, and Sandy as best they can. When Guy joins their herd, the father notices that his relationship with his daughter is changing and – worst of all – nothing he can do about it. The feeling that flourishes between the young people – Eep and Guy, becomes the impetus for making decisions that will change the life of the herd forever. In addition, in the latest animation from DreamWorks Animation studio, the heroes have to face a reality that they have not known before – they will meet the Betterman couple, friends of Guy’s parents who live in a technologically modernized mansion, not suited to the conditions to which cavemen are used to. The clash of cultures allows us to see how apparently great differences mean nothing when we look in the same direction together. Unfortunately, it seems to me that Joel Crawford has focused too much on emphasizing differences in worldview. The director can be accused of a kind of marginalization of the character – few threads are related to, among others with crazy grandma or Eep’s youngest sister – Sandy.

In the trap of convention
The universal message will probably be accurately analyzed by the youngest and their parents. The Croods 2 are part of a certain canon of very classic modern animations – a story about family, tolerance, but also … overprotection. On the one hand, it is an adventure film ( similar to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ), and on the other – a story for children. There are monkey invaders, duels, chases, kidnapping, but unfortunately it was not possible to combine them all. The animation is therefore divided into two parts: a thread on an intergenerational cultural dispute and an energetic adventure game in which there is no room for stagnation. DreamWorks animation are such modern Flintstones, however, most of the motives are simply secondary. The youngest viewers may not be discouraged, but adults may feel a certain disgust. The gags are funny, but I have a feeling we don’t remember any of them after the screening, and that doesn’t bode well. However, we can treat the animation as an escape from reality, then the screening will certainly give us a lot of pleasure.

Dubbingolandia
The original dubbing cast is the same stars: Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Cloris Leachman, Clark Duke, as well as Peter Dinklage ( Game of Thrones ), Leslie Mann ( George straight from the tree ) and Kelly Marie Tran ( Star Wars ). This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the 2013 Krud’s success is unmistakable – Oscar, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominations, as well as three awards from the International Animation Association, ANNIE. The success of the production even contributed to the creation of the series The Croods at the dawn of timewhich was broadcast on teleTOON + and then made available on Netflix. The native language version was developed by the Start International Polska studio. The characters received the votes of Piotr Grabowski, Anna Guzik, Lesław Żurek, Natalia Sikora, Miriam Aleksandrowicz, Justyna Bojczuk, Karolina Kalina-Bulcewicz, Zbigniew Suszyński, Mateusz Narloch, and Noema Żbikowska. Guest appearances were Małgorzata Rozenek-Majdan, Radosław Majdan, Tadeusz and Stanisław Rozenek. As a curiosity, it is worth knowing that the dubbing for the first part of The Krudas belonged to another studio – Sonica Studio. Fortunately, the voices of the main characters have been preserved!

Screening and after screening. Rating
The Croods 2: The New Era is an animation that you will surely like, but … you have to remember that, unfortunately, it does not match the quality of the first game. The production is characterized by an uneven pace, the idea for the message is hit, but unfortunately repeated references to the topic can be overwhelming (liberalism versus conservatism, oh no!). We also have a romantic thread here, which probably not everyone will like. I’m also not sure about the end of the animation, but well, judge for yourself. I think that during the screening you will smile more than once, have a nice time with your family and friends and you will appreciate the idea for the plot, and for minor plot inaccuracies and unnecessary claptrap, let’s lower the veil of silence.
We invite you to watch The Croods 2: A New Era movie to Cinema City!
