Mrauuuu…
Batman is a cute kitten who – like his siblings – Patch, Kitty, Pela and Gucio was born in the wardrobe of Mrs. Magda and Mr. Tomek. Newly born kittens are eager to explore the world around them, having fun and mischief at every free moment. Their everyday life is also filled with certain challenges. In the first volume of the Cat’s Tales series , we will get to know the animal heroes and find out if they managed to climb the stairs, what happened in the bathroom and why it’s best to play on a table covered with a lace tablecloth. In the next volume – Gucio and the rest– we get to know a little animal ward better, who lives with his mother and sister Pella at Mrs. Magda and Mr. Tomek. The perspective of little friends allows you to see how beautiful the world around you can be when you discover it together. In addition, the heroes go through extraordinary adventures – they travel by car in a wicker basket, climb flowers in the living room and look for the best hiding places in the house. The last reviewed volume – Cynamon called Ancymon – is a story about another kitten, Cynamon. Every day a real revolution takes place in his life: he throws a party, tries to make friends with dogs, to unravel the mystery of why people are afraid of mice, and he works out how to fill himself up for two. His adventures will surely put you in a good mood!
Cat’s world
Among readings with a cat motif, we can distinguish: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Sick cat by Stanisław Jachowicz, Garfield Jim Davis, Golden Afternoon by Andrzej Sapkowski, Master and Małgorzata Mikhail Bulgakov, Kafka by the sea by Haruki Murakami , Boys by Jakub Ćwiek and CoralineNeil Gaiman. These micro-worlds are a space for the development of plot threads. The Wilga publishing house offers, above all, stories for children – for independent reading or reading with their parents. Their main goal is to interest the reader. Moreover, they attempt to develop aesthetic sensitivity, develop the emotional sphere and shape the imagination.
Visually and practically
The books that were written by Magdalena Szczepańska, will surely appeal to the little pupils, but the illustrator Kasia Nowowiejska also deserves great congratulations. The Wilga publishing house has published wise, informative stories, the illustrations of which (also on end papers) undoubtedly enrich the aesthetics of the edition. The volumes are divided into short, usually a few pages long, chapters with announcement titles (allowing children to guess what might happen). I especially like the first-person narrative, which allows you to get to know the heroes of each volume better. The form in which a kitten toddler presents members of his family, such as Gucio, Peli, Tymianka, Futrzak, Szarusi or Rudi, is interesting – separate chapters have been devoted to these events. It is also worth mentioning that the author skillfully captures various issues in the volumes – emphasizes the importance of meetings with the family, discusses human moods (from a cat’s perspective, of course!), notices changes in the seasons, and emphasizes the need to care for ecology. While this is nothing out of the ordinary for the adult reader, it adds value to the little ones. In the last, newest volume –Cinnamon called Ancymon – the author refers to the modern way of communicating young people and instead of “hello” we have “Hey, heey!” and the kitty emote! This is a surprising simulation of a cat’s message (maybe an e-mail?) To the reader. This volume has also been enriched with a table of contents to make it easier to find individual fragments. If you want to know at the end of which of the volumes the kitten is written “by hand” and which heroes say goodbye to us, to return in the next volumes, reach for the proposition of Magdalena Szczepańska and Kasia Nowowiejska, as well as – of course – publishing house Wilga!
