Buzz Lightyear: Tom Hanks and Tim Allen on the new Buzz Lightyear

In the new production of Buzz Lightyear , the main character was voiced by Chris Evans, not by Tim Allen, who played the role of an astronaut in the cult films from the Toy Story series . The actor has already expressed his disappointment at not being included in Buzz’s new adventure, so also Tom Hanks (Skinny Sheriff in Toy Story ) shared his thoughts on the subject.

Tom Hanks referred to the fact that Chris Evans, not Tim Allen, got the role of Buzz Lightyear in the new Pixar and Disney film. He definitely sided with his old associate on the Toy Story set :

Yes, yes, I know that. […] I’d like to go see a movie with Allen and I’m counting on it.

Tim Allen himself told Extra what he thought about looking at the astronaut from a completely new perspective, not presenting him only as a toy:

The short answer is this – I stayed away from it because it has nothing to do, as I said a while ago, we talked about it many years ago in one of the sessions. I said it would be a great movie and we all talked about it. But the bosses that did the first four films aren’t … Now this is a brand new band that had nothing to do with the first films and like I said, I thought it was going to be live-action. […] As for Hanks and me, the Toy Story Buzz doesn’t exist without Skinny. I am dedicated to the story. What was done in 1997 seemed like a big, adventure story and as I can see, [new production – ed. ed.] has nothing to do with the toy.

The adventures of Buzz Lightyear are now available in cinemas. You can find our review of this animation here .
