The famous Polish cartoonist and storyboarder Bogusław Polch passed away. He was the author of the famous series “Kapitan Żbik”, “The Witcher”, “Funky Koval” and “Gods from outer space”.
On January 2, at the age of 78, the famous Polish cartoonist Bogusław Polch, known even in the times of the People’s Republic of Poland, passed away.
The artist, born near Brest-on-the-Bug in 1941, began his adventure with graphic arts in an art school. He published his first papers at the age of 17 in the Korespondent Wszędobylski magazine . in 1970, the first comic from the famous series Kapitan Żbik – Golden Mauritius was published . The series had a total of 8 volumes.
In the 1980s, a science fiction comic book series Gods from Outer was launched , based on the Erich von Däniken Expedition . The first Polish adult comic, Funky Koval , also appeared , initially published in black and white in the Fantastyka magazine .
Gods from Outer Space had 8 volumes and 13 language versions, and Funky Koval consisted of 4 volumes. A collective edition was also published in 2014.
Bogusław Polch was also a cartoonist of comics about The Witcher from the 90s, of which a total of 6 volumes were published.
In 2009, at the 20th International Festival of Culture and Science in Łódź, he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis.
On January 9, at 2 p.m., a funeral ceremony will take place at the Funeral Home in Powązki Military.
