Board mini “Tetris”? – review of the board game “Fits Travel”

Fits Travel is nothing more than Tetris , only in the form of a board game. Each player has his own ramp on which he moves figures of various shapes. There are exactly thirteen of them and each has a different form. Randomly revealed cards decide about the appearance of a specific block. The game lasts two rounds. In the first one, we get a point for each filled row, and in the next one we can get additional profits for the three same symbols discovered. However, you have to be careful, because there are two fields on the board, which – if they are not covered – will have a negative impact on the final score.

a satisfying puzzle!

The game Fits Travel there is no interaction, which means that it does not really matter whether you play solo, or four people. However, if someone likes logical puzzles, he will be satisfied. Contrary to Tetris , it is not speed and reflexes that count here, but combining and planning. Each figure can be arranged in many ways. It is worth bearing in mind that some bricks are very problematic and without careful arrangement of the previous elements, it can be extremely difficult to score a decent number of points. Besides, Fits Travelis an extremely fast game: one game can be played in minutes. Replayability is at a decent level due to randomness, but it’s a pity that there are only two different boards. No variants have been added, for example with negative points for open spaces (rule in basic Fits ). In my opinion, this version could be slightly tweaked to take on its own character, because it is unfortunately only a simpler and worse version of Fits . Despite this, I had a great time playing the game and I will probably come back to it more than once. It is just great fun.

Budgetary execution

Fits Travel is a cheaper, smaller and easier version of Fits . The game fits easily in a backpack. It doesn’t take up much space on the table either. Nevertheless, it does not impress with its appearance as the “big brother”. Here we have cardboard figures, there they were plastic. The same is true with a ramp that has no rails, and thus inserting slate boards is sometimes problematic. After all, for such a low price (the game can be bought for less than PLN 40) it is decent. The biggest complaint concerns the small variety of tasks. In the original version, there were four boards with different rules, and in this version there are only two, which makes the replayability much smaller. In addition, I have the impression that much more difficult, and therefore more interesting, were the challenges that the Fits player had to face .

Is it worth the thought?

Fits travel is a great puzzle. I like Tetris , so I liked its board counterpart as well. The advantage of this edition is its low price and small size. Only for these reasons it is worth opting for this version. Otherwise I think it’s probably better to get interested in basic Fits . My greatest regret is the small number of boards. It is a pity that no attempt was made to personalize this version or add some variants. The most important thing, however, is that Fits travel generates a lot of positive emotions, and fun – although sometimes without interaction – gives a lot of satisfaction.
