“I don’t think he will hide himself licking his wounds in misfortune. He’s thirsty for blood, ”Bower shared with NME about his character in the final season.
For most of season 4, fans were stunned by Vecna ‘s origins . Episode 7 revealed that he was the paramedic who guarded Eleven, who was responsible for overpowering him and banishing him to Upside Down. In the years since that fight, the paramedic grew more powerful and dangerous, and revenge motivates most of his actions in Season 4.

“I think revenge is a huge part of it. One of the things I always told myself and wrote down [in preparation] was ‘You took everything from me, now it’s my turn to take everything from you’. Before Eleven sends him to an untimely death in Upside Down, he is left alone in this space for a long time, suffocating with no one to talk to. But while revenge plays a big part in his relationship with her, I think he still has the urge to take her with him and live a different way because she is part of him and he recognizes a lot of himself in her, “says Bower of what motivates the character.
In the season 4 finale, Will Byers had a strange experience when Vecna’s presence became noticeable in Hawkins, and the actor theorized:
“I think Vecna and Will are connected in some way that has yet to be explored … As a fan, I’d be interested to learn more about this.”
