In the moment of inevitable defeat, Olaf Rudnicki agrees to pay with his freedom for the life of his family. The proud, powerful alchemist finds himself in a world where he is only a slave. A ruthless, obedient instrument in the hands of a new master.
A war begins, the rules of which Rudnicki does not know, but he knows one thing: life depends on how he fulfills his oath. Him, his family, his world. If he fails, even if he survives, he will have nowhere to return.

The above description is provided by the publisher.

Thanks to the Fabryka Słów publishing house  fans of Polish fantasy once again have the opportunity to follow the fate of the alchemist Olaf Rudnicki, the main character of the Materia Prima series  . This time as part of the new series, Materia Secunda. However, the action of the new novel will not take place in an alternative version of Warsaw in the first half of the 20th century, but in the Far East, to which Rudnicki is transferred to serve there for several years at the court of Prince Nin. Simultaneously with the story of the alchemist, the reader has the opportunity to learn about the action taking place simultaneously in 20th-century tsarist Russia, where the cousin of Rudnicki, who had previously helped him in the fight against the Damned, resides.

Although the two sites are far from each other, both are under constant threat from the dreaded Cursed, who, contrary to appearances, have not ceased to be a threat with the end of Materia Prima . The new book of Przechrzty is full of combat scenes, elements of horror, another dose of alchemy but also intrigue, which are present in a previously unknown place.

But does Blood Servant require knowledge of the Materia Prima series in order to understand the story presented in it?  Absolutely not, because it is an ideal novel for both the faithful readers of Baptism and those new to them who are just starting their adventure in the world he has created, because the author did not skimp on relevant explanations in the text.
