It’s been over a year since we saw the last major production from Marvel Studios in theaters, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). The next title in line was to be Black Widow , the movie Avengers fans had been waiting for for years. Natasha is a member of the original line-up of the superhero group, and in the universe itself she appeared before such characters as Thor and Captain America (whose first films were released in 2011) – we see her for the first time alongside Tony Stark in Iron Man 2 (2010) .
With the release date so long, it’s time to explore more and more details about the movie itself. To make the wait, the creators have released Marvel’s Black Widow: The Official Movie Special Book (more information and available for purchase here ). We read in it a very interesting statement by David Harbour (Red Guardian):
The relationship between my character and Black Widow is that they are together on a spy mission where they pretend to be an American family in the United States of the nineties. Also the character of Rachel Weisz, Melina, is kind of a mother, me as Alexei the father and Natasha and Yelena are their little daughters. This is how the movie begins, they function like a family.
The actor also emphasizes that thanks to this, Alexei knows the heroine in a way that no one else knows her and knows a lot about her. This means that their meeting will certainly be problematic to some extent for Natasha, who tries to maintain the position of an anonymous spy.
Another thing we learn from the book is that the film will finally answer the question that fans have been asking themselves for eight years: What happened in Budapest? Natasha and Clint (Jeremy Renner) only mention two short sentences on this subject in Avengers (2012) and one in Avengers: Endgame (2019), but this led to tons of fan theories and one of the MCU’s biggest mysteries.

Scarlett Johansson herself admits that the answer to this question had to be found in her solo film. The creators realized that omitting this thread entirely would be unsatisfactory for the fans.
We also know that we will see a comic book villain known as Taskmaster on the screen. The book reveals some interesting graphics related to him, including details of the costume and a scene from the showdown with Natasha.
However, we still do not know who is playing this character. Interestingly, Johansson says that Natasha is not Taskmaster’s primary target. In her speech, she also refers to the fact that the heroine at some point wonders if the opponent has any connection with the Sokovia Accords regulations – which suggests that the plot will probably take place after the events of Captain America: Heroes War (2016).
In addition to Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour, the screen will feature Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff) and rumors say Robert Downey Jr. is about to appear. as Tony Stark. The premiere is scheduled for May 7, 2021.
