The huge success of the first installment of Black Panther (2018) expanded the MCU with the wonderful kingdom of Wakanda and the stories of its inhabitants. It was the freshness and originality that Marvel Studios needed, the film in a sensible and pleasant to watch way combined superhero threads with a story about a new, interesting culture, its beliefs and traditions. Wakanda almost immediately became one of the most important locations in the universe, and T’Challa himself, in the minds of fans, an undisputed member of the Avengers group.
The news of the death of Chadwic Boseman (T’Challa) at the end of August this year shook the Marvel world not only emotionally, but also raised a multitude of practical questions. Wakanda’s Throne is empty, so how will the creators handle the continuation of the story? Victoria Alonso, when asked if the actor’s image would be recreated using CGI technology, said:
No. There is only one Chadwic and he is no longer with us. Unfortunately, the death of our king also affects the real world, not just fiction, and we need time to decide how we will continue our story and honor this chapter, ending in such an unexpected, painful and terrible way.
Apparently, the necessary decisions have already been made, because information has appeared on the Internet that Black Panther 2 will start its production in July 2021 . Photos will take place, among others in and around Atlanta and is said to take up to six months.
The returning cast include, among others Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Angela Basset (Ramonda). They will be joined by Tenoch Huerta, who will play the villain of the second part . The actor is known for such titles as Narcos: Mexico (since 2018), Escape from hell (2009) and Days of grace (2009). Letitia Wright, reprising the role of Shuri, deserves additional attention. The Wakanda Princess is to be much more important for the plot than in the movies so far . It looks like the girl will take on her brother’s legacy – maybe even become the new Black Panther?
The premiere of the second part of Black Panther is scheduled for May 6, 2022.
