The mini-series by Chuck Brown, illustrated by Valentine De Landro, will consist of six issues, the first of which will debut in September – both in print and digital. The time of its premiere is not accidental, because this is the year that Aquaman celebrates its 80th birthday. Black Manta is part of a larger DC initiative to commemorate the beginning of the Aquaman story.
In its own adventure, the bane of the seas will be on the trail of a rare metal with unusual properties. But he won’t be the only one who wants to get it. Torrid, Black Manta’s former ally turns out to be both his friend and opponent. He will need his help against Devil Ray, but will he be able to trust him?

The origins of the Black Manta date back to 1967, when the villain created by Bob Haney and Nick Cardy joined the ranks of other DC Comics characters. From the very beginning, he is a real nuisance to Aquaman, committing heinous acts against him. He also appeared in the 2018 film Aquaman , and was portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen. Now, for the first time, the Black Manta will be the hero of her own story.
You will be able to see it on September 7, this year, because that’s when the first part will debut.
