Bella Ramsey, star of HBO ‘s The Last of Us , spoke about her excitement to return to the show for Season 2. Shortly after the premiere of the first episode, earlier this year, HBO announced that the series would eventually return for a second season! So far, there’s no word on when the latest series might go into production, but that doesn’t stop Ramsey from looking forward to returning to the set.
During a new interview with The Last of Pods podcast on ComicBook.com , Ramsey said she’s very eager for a second season, even though she knows it’s going to be a completely different experience. The show’s Ellie explained that her involvement in Season 1 of The Last of Us made this year the best year she’s ever had.
I’m really excited. It still seems surreal to me that this will happen again. But I also don’t want to go into a new season comparing it to the experience of the first because […] The Last of Us Season 1 was the best year of my life and neither will ever be the same. I just have to go into it now, saying, This is the second season. I love season one, but this one is just going to be different. I’m really excited. Just, yeah, I want to be back in Canada with Craig Mazin and Pedro [Pascal]. It’s gonna be really cool.

It’s currently unknown when HBO will start filming and eventually release The Last of Us Season 2. Previously, showrunner Craig Mazin said season 2 would be a direct adaptation of The Last of Us Part II . While this would suggest that Ramsey and the other members of the franchise may be getting a little older first, The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal recently hinted that production on season two could begin in 2023, while The Last of Us season 1 will soon be wrapping up. Episode 9 of the series will air next week, March 12 on HBO and HBO Max.
