After some disappointment that Battlefield 2042 caused fans of the series, Electronic Arts is still trying to erase the poor first impression from the players’ memory. The company’s recent announcement about the launch of a short free-to-play period in the game is probably intended to attract attention once again and perhaps redeem the blame for the not entirely successful launch.
Electronic Arts and DICE recently announced that Battlefield 2042 will temporarily go free-to-play on all platforms in the coming month. While the free period won’t last forever, it will allow players to test the game and see what changes have been made since its 2021 release. Electronic Arts confirms that free-to-play will take place on different days depending on the platform. Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One players will be able to try BF2042 from December 1-4. PC and Steam users will get free access between December 1 and December 5. PS4 and PS5 owners will wait the longest, but for them the game will be available for free for up to 7 days! Players can log in during Free Access to earn the Battlefield 2042 Welcome Pack , including a collection of new cosmetics, as well as instant access to Season 1 and Season 2 Specialists Ewelina Lis and Charlie Crawford – giving players a total of 13 Specialists to choose from. Over 15 maps will be available, including 4 map reworks from the launch of BF2042 .
