Warner Bros. Discovery has already taken off a number of shows from HBO Max, including Batgirl, but we are still waiting for a few DC projects to appear on the site. Earlier this year, The Batman was released , starring Colin Farrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. While the movie hit theaters, work was already underway on a spin-off for HBO Max, which will focus on the character of Farell. Last month, it was confirmed that the series is not in danger and looks set to go into production next year.
According to Production Weekly , shooting for the Penguin series will begin on February 6 in New York City. I have been a fan of the Batman world for a long time , while Matt’s film is a very strong and bold entry into the canon. I’m excited and honored to continue the story of Gotham City’s bleak world – and what better excuse to awaken my inner villain than telling a story about Oswald Cobblepot? I’m looking forward to working with Colin, Matt, Dylan, Reeves, Warners and HBO Max as we work together to bring the story to the screen.

During an interview with SFX Magazine, Clark said a few words about the upcoming show and compared it to The Man with the Scar .
We create it together with Colin [Farrell, playing the Penguin]. We’ll see Oz climb to power, almost like in the story of the Man with the Scar . It’s exciting to be able to work on a story like this even as a separate piece, but our show will be a reflection of the character of Penguin and the previous movie. So when you come back to the movie later, you say, ‘Oh, I understand the story now, the point is related to that.
