HBO Max spin-off starring Colin Farrell as Penguin is set to begin production soon. What will dark Gotham City bring this time?
In addition to the direct sequel to Batman , a Penguin spin-off for HBO Max starring Colin Farrell is set to begin production soon. As it turns out, two more programs are still being worked on. One about Arkham Asylum – which is probably about the Joker (probably played by Barry Keoghan). The second about the Gotham Police Department. According to Variety, Matt Reeves’ Batman universe is still very active despite new management at DC Studios.
This will not be a story about Batman, but about a corrupt policeman. It’s about Gotham’s worst gang. [Batman] would cross paths with Gordon, who would be the person he has to face this time. It will be a fight for his soul.
Reeves said during a press conference
What do we know about the Penguin spinoff?
According to HBO Max head Sarah Aubrey, the series will further develop Gotham’s seedy underbelly and, most importantly, Oswald’s inner circle.
The aim of this series is to show what life is like for Oz and that on the streets of Gotham, trying to get up and go as only the Penguin can, as a hustler and strategist with ambitions of his own. It’s a great example of taking the time in eight episodes to tell a longer story, about a character with lots of delicious twists and new characters. It will be Gotham from street level because [The Penguin] doesn’t fly around like Batman. We all treat it as a very specific experience for the viewers.
Sarah Aubrey described
We don’t know the release date of The Penguin yet . The good news for Dark Knight fans is that The Batman: Part II hits theaters on October 3, 2025.
