Fawn Bambi will return to the screens to re-traumatize its viewers after several decades. This time, however, it will not end with the tragic death of the main character’s mother. According to the creators of the new film, Bambi is to become a ruthless, brutal killer.
99 years after the release of Bambi . Forest Tale by Felix Salten, the character of a young fawn has been placed in the public domain. Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey , was particularly pleased with the news . In collaboration with Scott Jeffrey, he intends to create another horror based on famous fairy tales for children. What can we expect from Bambi: The Reckoning? Jeffrey revealed his concept in an interview with Dread Central .
“The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of a story we all know and love. Inspired by Netflix’s The Ritual , Bambi becomes a ruthless killing machine that lurks in the wild. Get ready for Bambi with rabies!”
The original Disney film Bambi , which premiered in 1942, is not yet in the public domain under US law. Therefore, as in the case of Winnie the Pooh, the creators must avoid major links with animated production.
We don’t yet know when exactly Bambi: The Reckoning will hit the screens, but soon we will see Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The story of the characters from the Stumilowy Forest will be completely different from the one we remember from childhood. We wrote more about the new production here .
However, everything indicates that Frake-Waterfield will not stop at these two films. The producer’s next project is to create a horror game based on the story of Peter Pan . At the moment, however, we do not know the details of the next production.
