“Baldur’s Gate 3” on the first gameplay

Larian Studio shared gameplay fragments from the sequel to Baldur’s Gate . The game looks promising!

During yesterday’s presentation at this year’s PAX East, Larian studio showed the first recordings of Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay , which is another part of the famous RPGs that will return after many years. The material, lasting over an hour, presents both impressive cutscenes and gameplay, clearly drawn from the studio’s previous work – the Divinity: Original Sin series  .

The plot of the title takes place about a hundred years after the events of  Baldur’s Gate 2 , and its leitmotif will be the invasion of the Mind Raiders. The main thread should last about 40 hours.

The game will appear in Steam early access later this year, and the full version will also be available on Google Stadia. However, the console version is under a big question mark. Producer David Walgrave, asked by Eurogamer, said that  Baldur’s Gate 3 is unlikely to hit PS4 and XONE. The production uses a new, improved version of the  Divinity Engine and the current generation consoles may not be efficient enough. Walgrave noted, however, that perhaps it would be possible to create a port, but it would require significant compromises in the graphic layer. The issue is therefore not yet settled. It is worth noting that this would not be the first such compromise port for Larian. Finally, it was possible to transfer to the Nintendo Switch console Divinity: Original Sin 2.
