The fight for the title of the highest-grossing film in history ended in a success for Marvel.
The success of “Avengers” Engame was obvious – the 22nd film by the giant like Marvel, crowning 10 years of superhero cinema and closing a certain chapter. The movie earned more and more, so it’s no wonder that breaking the record-holder – James Cameron’s Avatar – was only a matter of time.
Box Office was ranked number one in the ranking of the highest-grossing films of all time on Sunday, July 21, 2019. “End of the Game” grossed a total of over $ 2.790 billion worldwide, pushing “Avatar” into second place with a score of $ 2.798 billion. Also in the top 5 are “Titanic” ($ 2.187 billion), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($ 2.068 billion) and “Avengers: Infinity War” ($ 2.048 billion).
The Avengers owe their success mainly to viewers outside the United States – overseas income amounted to approximately $ 1.936 billion. The re-release of the movie to theaters in an expanded version, with an additional 6 minutes of footage, also had a big impact on the result.
Marvel did not rest on its laurels and at last week’s San Diego Comic Con announced film and series plans for the following years, making up the 4th phase of the MCU . The first will be shown by the Black Widow, which will hit theaters on May 1, 2020.
