Just finished the first season of Interview with the Vampire, and the AMC universe has already premiered another series based on the Anne Rice trilogy! A trailer for Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches is available on the show’s official Twitter account. It will be available to watch on January 8 on AMC and AMC+.
The trailer gives the viewer a bit of a feel for the upcoming production. Dr. Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) says she draws her strength from both good and evil. While that sounds like some kind of balance, the teaser’s dark vibe makes it clear. There will be no balance, and the situation will quickly become more and more complicated.
What is the plot of the series about?
Mayfair Witches focuses mainly on the character of Dr. Rowan, a brilliant neurosurgeon. A woman discovers that she is the heir to a family of witches. Her struggles with her newfound powers turn her life upside down, and she must fight sinister forces that have haunted her family for generations.
The first season picks up where the book goes, with the mood of New Orleans and a kind of ghost story about the house. The middle part is about 300 or 400 pages of 13 generations of witches reaching all the way to Scotland. We’ve used some of that, and then we feel like we’ll save some of this great story and saga of all the different generations for later seasons if we’re lucky enough. – said the producer of the series, Esta Spalding
The influence of the adaptation on the novel The Witching Hour
The trilogy is by Anne Rice, who died in 2021. The writer was very successful, which is why film adaptations of her books were highly anticipated. However, are they actually reflected on the screen?
I downloaded it. I saw it had 56 hours and I thought if I had 56 hours, you know, and I listened for nine hours, and I realized that we actually have an interpretive show here. The characters are not exactly the same as in the book. The story is not exactly the same. They took the whole witch ethos and The Witching Hour, the first book, and they did. There is no doubt that Rice has inspired many creators and has also contributed to the creation of other franchises. When you read the books of modern writers, you can see a lot of similarities.
