Angela Lansbury, theater and film actress, is celebrating her birthday today. She was born on October 16, 1925. We remember her as an inquisitive writer who solved criminal mysteries. She gave the voice of Mrs. Imbryk in “Beauty and the Beast”, also played a small role in “Mary Poppins Returns” and appeared in the horror movie “Society of the Wolves”.
The acclaimed and respected actress began her career with a tall C. Her debut in The Extinguishing Flame (1944) deserved an Oscar nomination, her second for her next film Portrait of Dorian Gray (1945). There was also a third – for participation in We lived the war (1962). She received an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in 2013. She also won many Tony and Emmy Awards, and won 4 Golden Globes for her lead role in the series She wrote: Murder.
I started in London as a child. My mother knew I had natural talent. She was an actress, so I inherited it from her. But I think I got a lot from my grandfather who was a great politician.
It also has a small contribution to the world of fantasy. She provided her voice as Mrs. Imbryk for the animated film Beauty and the Beast (she was even included in the list of actresses most similar to the characters they gave their voice to). She played Granny in The Wolf Society, the balloon woman in Mary Poppins Returns, Mrs. Van Gundy in Mr. Popper and His Penguins, and she played herself in Fantasy 2000.
I live a very strict life. I take great care of myself: I take a lot of vitamins, I get enough sleep, I don’t drink except the occasional glass of wine.
This is what our birthday girl says today. Perhaps we should all follow her example, don’t you think? We wish you 200 years!
