Sony was looking for a new director for the sequel to "Venom" after Ruben Fleischer took a job on "Zombieland 2". There were a few candidates but Andy Serkis is currently in the lead.
Tom Hardy , an actor known for the role of the main character in the first part of the film Venom, recently posted a photo of Andy Serkis (whose face I know from the role of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings ) on his Instagram account , which may confirm that he will be the director of the sequel .
The first part was directed by Ruben Fleischer, who was recently busy working on Zombieland 2, so the filmmakers had to find someone to replace him. Also, screenwriter Jeff Pinker will no longer be involved in the Venom sequel . However, we know for sure that Kelly Marcel will appear , who also co-created the script of the first part.
Of course, Tom Hardy’s participation in the sequel to Venom has also been confirmed .
The premiere of the new Sony production will most likely take place in the fall of 2020.
