Attention! The text contains spoilers from the Andor series . With the ninth episode, viewers learned more about Vel Sartha, played by Faye Marsay ( Game of Thrones ). The heroine is not only one of the most important characters of the Rebellion, a cousin of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), but also has romantic feelings for Cinty (Varada Sethu).

The serial relationship between the two women made Faye Marsay speak in an interview with / Film about the representation of the LGBTQ + community in the Star Wars universe :

Well, I think if we make it clear that it’s nothing special, that it’s normal, that we’re showing the normal, we won’t have to shout it out, say it out loud, and emphasize it. What is there has always existed. It will always exist and always exist. People love who they want and I think it’s important not to forget that to normalize the normal. I think Star Wars is a great universe for that because it means so much to so many. Let’s just normalize the normal. Let us not forget the difficulties that the LGBTQ + community has passed through and continues to this day. Let us not forget about it. It’s really worth remembering this, but also normalizing the normal ones.
