Mutant Year Zero: Seed of Evil is an addition and a continuation of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden , the review of which you can read here . After completing the basic version, we return to the destroyed world, exactly at the point where we ended the previous game. We already know who the “dad” of mutants is and where they come from. Still, we have not found a good refuge for humanity. Worse still, the Ark, our current safe haven, is under attack by strange plants that want to consume it. In addition, people are starting to die more and more in their sleep. So our task is to solve the mystery of who is behind these attacks and stop him before it’s too late.

This time you won’t surprise me

The very idea of ​​the story told in MYZ: Seed of Evil is average. The former storyline of the first installment of the game was much more addictive. I traveled the locations with interest and found the next pieces of the puzzle that allegedly led us to Eden. It was not certain if this play would be successful and if someone was playing with me. Now I know almost from the beginning who is behind the attack, what its motives are, and the game is that I have to find him. So the element of surprise is definitely missing, although the developers made sure that I would get a little twist in the story at the end.

As for the world itself, it has not changed since Road to Eden . The locations we visit are still dark and very atmospheric. We traverse the destroyed Earth, over which mother nature took control without human activity. So we have lots of dilapidated buildings, gas stations, cars, trains, roads and bridges, on which vines are now climbing, mosses and shrubs, or which are torn by roots and trees. There are also corpses of people in a greater or lesser stage of decay to complete the post-apocalyptic picture. The whole thing is crowned with the omnipresent fog. The locations created in this way look beautiful. The graphics have been refined down to the smallest detail and the player can enjoy them, and at the same time be afraid of what is lurking around the corner.

The gameplay itself has not changed in Seed of Evil either. We are still dealing with a turn-based system, a large dose of stealth and devising strategies against other enemies. And although we already know all this, we cannot complain. After all, we are dealing with a game that is already a turn-based strategy from the description.

Super Elk and others

As for what’s new in the game, as I mentioned, we get a new storyline. But it’s hard for us to repeat what we already have behind us. However, we will meet another hero, whom we will be able to recruit to our team. It is a giant, two-legged moose – the Great Khan. He can move around the Zone very efficiently, and thanks to his strength, he can cause small earthquakes. In addition, his mutation allows him to spit fire and set enemies on fire. Of course, there will also be new opponents. Some people only changed in appearance and stood a bit stronger, but we will also encounter cocoons that we have not known before, from which strange creatures or deformed people will hatch, able to use willpower to fight.

If you like Bormin and Dux like me, don’t worry, they aren’t missing in the game. They are still extremely sarcastic and therefore funny. They also remain seasoned Searchers who will be able to save people. However, their mutations have been improved. From now on, our Duck will be able to, for example, use other wings, which will allow him to reduce the penalty for hitting sniper rifles, and the Boar will learn how to build a completely new weapon.

Another new feature worth mentioning is the ability to share your results with other players. If you connect to the Internet, you will be able to see how your achievements compare to others. It’s always nice to be one of the best.

Old doesn’t mean bad

Mutant Year Zero: Seed of Evil doesn’t actually offer much of a novelty. We get the continuation of the scenario, several maps and locations, a few enemies, a hero and special abilities. Besides, we are again in the world we already know well. But also what were we to expect? After all, we are dealing with an add-on to a game that was very good. Therefore, the creators did not experiment, but only added a few more hours of fun. So if you liked the base, then be sure to reach for its extension. You will not be disappointed. And the discussions between Dux and Bormin are worth launching Seed of Evil .
