“The story about human betrayal and the end of pagan beliefs does not contain spectacular battles, nor does it create heroes. Betrayal and cowardice appeared often and unexpectedly, and the only winner in the end was the Christian god.”
For centuries, our ancestors were accompanied by various gods. Legends and myths about them fell into oblivion over time. The main character, Aron, tries to save the memory of the old gods. Because they exist – as long as they have followers. The boy sets off into the unknown so that they can survive and return to the world. On his journey, he meets historical figures, heroes of legends, myths and pre-Christian deities, and each of them shapes his further fate.
Aron’s adventure begins in the ranks of Weles – the Slavic god of magic and wealth. An unexpected coincidence causes the hero to take the form of a kitsune and, as a vixen, serve the goddess Inari. In her shrine, he finds a home and a family, but he also retains two unusual faces – one moment he is Aron, the other Aari. Tormented by internal dilemmas, he is still looking for his identity.
“The Way of the Gods” takes us not only to the world of long-forgotten creatures and the hero’s experiences, but also in a special way shows a magical period in the history of Japan. The legends of this country accompanied the author for many years, because they describe the common life of people and gods – and according to the legends known to this day, the role of the gods was to help people.
“How I love the night sky. Looking at them always makes me realize how small and invisible we are. It fills others with fear, but it fills me with peace. Maybe because it makes me feel like I’m part of it all. I know that millions of people have looked, are looking or will look at the same moon and stars. Each of them has their own life, problems and – like me – they have pseudo-philosophical speculations about things that basically make no sense.
The premiere is scheduled for September. The book will be published by BookEdit .
