In search of interesting radio plays for children, I recently found the publications of the BUKA publishing house. For a good start, I had the pleasure to read a fairy tale about an unusual kingdom ruled by the wise and just King Sleepyhead. In this amazing land, everyone sleeps perfectly, has good dreams, and the inhabitants enjoy good health and humor. One day, however, it turns out that the ruler’s daughter herself cannot indulge in blissful dreams at night, because she is haunted by terrible nightmares and fears. From then on, everyone is put to attention to find a remedy for the disease plaguing Princess Sleepyhead. Unfortunately, nothing helps, so the king himself must finally set off on a journey, because as a dad he wants only the best for his daughter – a peaceful sleep.
Because when / There are good dreams / The day will start well!
The fairy tale writer Marta Guśniewska has created a very vivid world with characters endowed with interesting characters. Here you will meet a snowman who is aware of his mortality and professes the principle of carpe diem , a professor of applied sleepology, giving sleepy lectures, or a Hungry Sleeping Creature who does not like sweets. The story, although simple in principle – you have to save the princess, has good values and a message smoothly woven into it. There is a lot about a parent’s love for a child, a bit about friends who save in times of need or about enjoying each day (snowman is my favorite character by far!).
Don’t get enough sleep for the day!
The pleasant plot is enriched by the music track. The fairy tale is full of great songs that not only have interesting lyrics, but also fantastic melody lines. Listening to these songs is also a lot of fun for adults, because they are not standard children’s songs, but songs based on the rhythm of Latin American songs or on swing.
Attractive in every way
Kraina Śpiochów was originally a performance at the Białystok Puppet Theater, which was so popular that it was decided to record it in the form of a fairy tale to listen to. The edition was supplemented with a booklet with the texts of all songs, and the color palette selected for the project (and the packaging for the album) corresponds to the artistic images of night scenery, which perfectly correlates with the content.
Cure for a good night’s sleep
In the sheer volume of various content for children, it is sometimes difficult to find those valuable and implemented with commitment and attention to the smallest detail. The Land of Sleepyheads is a small treasure that is definitely worth the attention of parents and children. I am pleased to recommend it, and I will be happy to see other productions from the BUKA publishing house.
