An adaptation of Stephen King’s “Fairy Tale” is already planned!

As Deadline reports, Stephen King’s latest novel, A Fairy Tale , will see its adaptation, even though it debuted a few days ago, on September 7. The director will be Paul Greengrass, but since the project is only so early, it’s hard to say more. It is also not known whether the production will go to theaters or immediately to one of the popular streaming platforms.

A Fairy Tale tells the story of an ordinary boy, to whom heroic deeds are written. Charlie Reade is an average teenager, a great athlete, and not the worst student. But the boy also has a lot of experience. When he was ten, his mother died in an accident. His father, lost in despair and grief, began to drink. Charlie had to learn how to take care of himself and of him.

At seventeen he met the dog, Radar, and his aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse who lived in an imposing mansion at the top of a hill. In the depths of the vast courtyard that surrounded her, behind the house, stood a closed shed from which strange sounds could be heard. As if some creatures were trying to get outside and escape …

Charlie did various, sometimes quite remarkable, jobs for Mr. Bowditch, and after his death he inherited the mansion on the hill and inherited the cassette of the story – so strange that it was simply impossible to believe. Although it seems like a fairy tale, inside the shed there is a hidden portal to another world, the inhabitants of which are in mortal danger. And whose terrible leaders, if no one dares to stop them, tend to destroy both that reality and ours.

Stephen King himself expressed satisfaction that it is Paul Greengrass who is at the helm of the project:

I’m a fan of Paul Greengrass and I think he’s a great choice for this movie.
