Amnesia
The main character and narrator – Mandor – presents us with past events. He tells how he was found as an adult, devoid of memory. Silent because he knows no words. However, some memories remained in his head and body. It can repair various equipment without any problems. Plus, he seems to know what some of them are for. Who was he before? What was his name? These are questions that remain unanswered for the time being.
However, amnesia does not prevent Mandor from entering the community. Pip, who finds him, gives him shelter and begins teaching him speech. Then the school and other residents appear. The protagonist learns, but at the same time builds relationships with people. However, some people are paying more attention to it than they should be.
Mysterious world
We don’t know much about the world in which the action takes place. It is clearly very different from ours, but somehow related to it. The attentive reader will readily see the evidence of this. Civilization, however, somehow dwarfed. For example, people don’t know what a toaster is and what it is for. What happened behind the world? What caused the technological regress? We will not know the answers to these questions in the first volume.
Thanks to this fascinating environment, the history of Mandor is interesting. In the plot, not so much happens, and yet we follow the hero’s fate with great interest. Even the appearing plot films or large simplifications do not bother you at all. The biggest problem here is the very stereotypical portrayal of the villains. So far they are just bad and you can see it from the very beginning. It’s a pity, but maybe the creators will give them some depth.
Line
Drawings definitely complement the world and contribute to its atmosphere. Cities, empty spaces, clothes, decorations – everything fits together and emphasizes the mood of the story. Thanks to this, the comic is pleasant to read. The line may not be the most beautiful, but it has something to it. Especially the way people draw is to be appreciated. The characters definitely catch the eye, and some frames with them even delight.
A good start
The first volume of Ter definitely makes you want to know the rest of the story. Although short, it shows the world in a very good way. However, we do not learn everything about the reality of the characters – information is given to us and the creators explain to the reader only as much as he needs to know at a given moment.
