AMC will screen “The Story of the Mayfair Witches” by Anne Rice

The series Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches will be based on the series of novels The History of the Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice.

AMC last year acquired the rights to 18 works by Anne Rice. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches will be the second production based on the author’s work to be released by them. The series tells the story of a young neurosurgeon discovering that she is part of a witch family. Struggling with new powers, she will have to deal with a malevolent creature that has haunted her family for generations.

Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford will be both writers and executive producers. Esta Spalding, who has a contract with AMC, will become the showrunner of the series. Mark Johnson will control the development of all productions related to the work of Anne Rice. The author and her son will also be involved in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. Spalding and Ashford are very excited to create a provocative and mysterious world of witches. According to them, the perspective of Anne Rice shows women who are powerful, often brutal and determined to overthrow the ruling structures of power.

The series premiere will be preceded by an eight-episode screening of Interview with the Vampire (shooting will begin in December in New Orleans). Both productions are to be released next year. We will probably not see Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches until the very end of 2022.
