Amazon Luna – Another cloud gaming service has been announced

The internet giant starts competing with Google Stadia and xCloud. The valued games and unusual business model are tempting.

Amazon joins the competition in the development of the cloud gaming segment. The company has just announced its own service that will allow you to play in a browser or a dedicated application (support for Windows, Mac, Fire TV, iOS, and in the future Android) thanks to the Internet connection to the servers on which the game will actually be played, which is naturally meant to allow players to enjoy with new titles, regardless of the equipment you have. At the beginning there will be the possibility of playing in 1080p and 60 frames per second, but in the future the service will also allow playing in 4K.

The business model of the system promises to be interesting. In early access, the Luna + subscription modeled on the Xbox Game Pass is to be the basis. For $ 6 a month, we will get access to an expanding game library, which will include, among others Metro ExodusControlAbzuA Plague Tale: InnocenceResident Evil VII , or  Grid . However, you will have the option to buy “channels” with content from specific publishers or containing items from a specific genre. So far, it is known that there will be a Ubisoft channel offering access to selected games of the French company in complete editions. However, it is not known how much such additional access will be priced.

Interestingly, despite promoting a special controller, Amazon Luna can also handle popular controllers from Microsoft and Sony consoles, as well as a keyboard and a mouse. Early access will begin in the United States in October. It is not known yet if and when Luna will go to Europe.
