$8.5 billion – this is how much it cost to acquire Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) by Amazon in 2022. Thanks to this transaction, the owners of the streaming platform gained the rights to many famous productions and now they intend to take advantage of it. Now we find out that several of the titles will certainly be re-shot or receive prequels, sequels or spin-offs, respectively. Several of them are already in an advanced stage of development. As reported by Deadline, viewers can expect announcements soon regarding the revival of franchises such as RoboCop , Stargate: Stargate , The Pink Panther , The Magnificent Seven , Legally Blonde , The Thomas Crown Affairand the barbershop .
At the moment, not everything is clear yet, but according to reports that both RoboCop and Stargate are to receive both a full-length movie and a series. Legally Blonde 3 is also coming . In all three cases, however, these are mainly rumors and guesses.
More reliable information applies to other productions. The Magnificent Seven and Barbershop are set to get their own TV series, and those are reportedly already in production. In turn, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Pink Panther will become full-length films. The latter is supposed to be animated.
