Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterburry, UK. It can be said that he was associated with art from birth – he owes his name to the famous composer, Orlando Gibbons, who composed in the 17th century. He started his education in his hometown, but due to dyslexia he experienced many problems with learning. However, he was good at horseback riding, photography and poetry. It was also there that he encountered acting for the first time, taking part in school plays.
He won many recitation competitions, was active in the local theater and participated in the Kent Festival many times. Acting ambition pushed him to move to London at the age of only 16. He was active at the National Youth Theater, which opened the way for him to receive a scholarship from the prestigious British American Drama Academy.
