About childhood, about literature, about Scandinavia …
This time something unusual, because On the Other Side of the Book is neither another collection of short stories nor a continuation of a series. This item is a biographical book in the form of an interview, the protagonist of which is the Great Grafoman, that is Andrzej Pilipiuk. If someone likes this writer, and so far has not had the opportunity to participate in the author’s meeting, now has a unique opportunity to experience it to some extent. For this publication is filled with a variety of topics. It begins, of course, from childhood, and thus with descriptions of the realities of the People’s Republic of Poland. Then the subject of education is discussed. The most extensive part is devoted to creativity. Jacek Skrzypacz asks about individual cycles or the most important heroes created by Andrzej Pilipiuk, and all this ends with a conversation about the foundationTowards the past .
About Wędrowycz, Storm, Skórzewski and others …
I read the other side of the book very well . I have never been drawn to biographical literature, nor have I had much pressure for meetings with authors. Nevertheless, considering that I like Pilipiuk’s work very much, I reached for this book. It was a very pleasant surprise for me. I looked at the times of the Polish People’s Republic, alien to me, through the eyes of a child who lived in them. I got to know the advantages and disadvantages of studying archeology. It was all the more interesting experience as I also considered this direction. Most importantly, however, I learned a lot of interesting facts about my favorite works. Therefore, I recommend this item to readers who have read most of Pilipiuk’s works. For example, I have not reached for the Norwegian Journal so far, and therefore all the questions about this series were less interesting to me than those related to Paweł Skórzewski. Most importantly, from this conversation, you can learn where the Great Grafoman was getting his ideas from.
But most of all it is a book …
Since this is a biographical book, we should expect more than just the text, shouldn’t we? In this respect, Fabryka Słów did not disappoint. We have a lot of photos related to the activity and life of Andrzej Pilipiuka. The most interesting depict, for example, the collection of shoemaking tools or the beauty of Scandinavia. I also like the golden thoughts instead of the motto on the front page. The extraordinary work of Pilipiuk, of course, was best pointed out by Jarosław Grzedowicz. While reading, I found only one typo, besides, there is really no fault of anything here.
About Andrzej Pilipiuk!
On the other side of the book, it is a very good publication for all Andrzej Pilipiuk fans. The great Grafoman is not afraid of controversial questions and always honestly says what he thinks about a given topic – he sticks to his values and views. In addition, it is full of interesting facts. For example, I learned from this book that one of my favorite writers hates the genre I love, which is fantasy. Well, nobody’s perfect after all.
To sum up, On the other side of the book perfectly presents the figure of Andrzej Pilipiuk. If someone did not have the opportunity to meet him at the author’s meeting, thanks to Fabryka Słów now he has such an opportunity.
