Not a moment’s respite
X-Men. Turning Points: The Second Comingis the conclusion of the saga in which Hope is at the center and it shows from the first pages. While in the previous volume the plot unfolded slowly, here we are immediately thrown into the whirlwind of events, and the action does not slow down until the last pages. All of the most important living X-Men join the fight, and yet the writers managed to give each of them some time and a role to play. Even the Avengers and the Fantastic Four join the game as guests, and their performance is not redundant and forced. By the way, some people can surprise us with their attitude. Previously plotted intrigues and secrets also come to light. Of course, there is no shortage of epic clashes, dramatic twists and turns, as well as emotions, because not all heroes will manage to survive the war with Bastion and his henchmen. All this makes
Unfortunately, the multitude of superheroes and connections with previous parts will make readers less interested in the fate of the group led by Cyclops easily get lost here. Most of the stories may seem chaotic and incoherent to them. Therefore, the third volume is not a good title to start your adventure with Children of the Atom.
The beauty of war
It’s hard to judge the visuals of The Second Coming, because several different artists worked on it. Each of them has its own style and a different vision of telling us the story. It is certainly commendable that, despite the fast action, they managed to keep up with it and capture it so that the reader does not get lost in it. A big plus is also the fact that the most important clashes look great, and sometimes even epic. Colossus beating another Sentinels or Storm glaring enemies with lightning bolts are the icing on the cake of this album. They also did not hesitate to show the brutality used mainly by Wolverine and his X-Force. Everyone also tried to adapt to the gloomy climate and reflect it in their works. What can you complain about though? As with the scenario,
Comic collected
Words of appreciation are certainly due to Egmont . The Polish publisher of the title once again gave us a hardcover album, briefly explained the events so far, and there were also a few additions in the form of alternative covers. We also received access to the “Bastion database”, in which, among others, information about Cable or X-Force. What is most worth emphasizing, however, is the fact that Hope’s story was originally told in several different albums. To complete the whole thing, one had to purchase the Uncanny X-Men , X-Force , New Mutants , X-Men: Legacy , and finally X-Men: Second Coming series comic books originally .We don’t have to worry about it anymore. We get everything served on a tray, properly combined and all we have to do is sit down to read.
Something for the fans
After a very good introduction in The Messiah Complex and a somewhat mediocre plot development in Messiah War, we got a pretty solid and interesting ending to the story. The Second Coming is a grim and bloody comic at times, but how could it be otherwise? After all, there is a great war going on in it, the stake of which is the survival of the mutant race. If you haven’t followed the previous adventures of the X-Men or you visit them sporadically, you’ll probably not like this title, but fans of Cyclops, Wolverine and the rest of the team will be satisfied and will go deep into the adventure with flushed faces, and the finale will certainly will give them what they could expect.
