Their entry statistics are of course not very impressive, but we can shuffle them at will to get the most satisfactory result possible. Each character has its own story, features, personality, we can also change their appearance (body structure, complexion, hair color, hairstyle, etc.) and even choose sexual orientation, which, contrary to appearances, is quite important as they can interact with each other. into romantic relationships. Everyone in turn
The gameplay is pure pleasure – turn-based battles are interspersed with the exploration of the map and comic book inserts, showing the course of events, on which we often have influence and can make decisions, resulting in various results. At the very beginning, the game offers very specific and helpful hints, they are not a rigid tutorial, but are well woven into the story. Characters collect experience and better equipment, and we have an influence on how we develop individual classes. Unfortunately (or “fortunately”, it depends on the approach) we have few of these classes, because only 3, already mentioned earlier. They are – a warrior, a hunter and a mystic, the first of which seemed the most boring to me, while the last one turned out to be the most interesting in terms of the possibility of “building” a character and her skills. The most important thing will be a tactical approach to the matter and a good knowledge of the strengths of our heroes, and they are very intuitive – a warrior is unlikely to be suitable for ranged attacks, close combat is definitely not a hunter’s fairy tale, and a mystic will make great use of various elements of the environment with the help of magic. I would say that fans of fast-paced gameplay have nothing to look for here, because hey … What do you expect from a purebred RPG? Adventures, joy and tears
Emotions, unforced and completely sincere, will accompany us through every campaign conducted in Wildermythand that’s what makes this game so special. Evil and challenges lurk at every step, peace is fragile and never lasts forever. When, after a long journey, our brave team manages to tear one piece of land from the monsters’ paws and civilize it, somewhere in the back of the head a thought appears that it is so little, there is still so much to do and discover … and hours, days, weeks and months speeding at an alarming pace. Time – passes inexorably, right? The only enemy that cannot be defeated by any means. You can temporarily resist his influence, but in the end it is always he who wins and manages to defeat even the greatest hero. By this I want to say that our heroes are getting old, and on the one hand this fact fills us with pride, because we can watch them grow and improve their skills, but on the other hand, it causes an unpleasant, choking feeling of sadness as the glow of their glory eventually fades. Of course, in a world full of threats, sometimes you don’t live to the old age and I have to admit that losing a hero during a fight after hours spent with him hurt a lot (although you can save him and use him in future campaigns, but you understand … It’s not the same ). With all my heart I was attached to these figures that looked like paper figures, with them I experienced every rise, fall, symptoms of sympathy or rivalry, love affairs … Oh! I felt almost parental satisfaction when one of the heroes had a descendant, whom he later taught his “heroic craft”. I don’t remember the last time I became so close to the heroes, and it’s something I thank the Wildermyth creators for .
The undeniable charm of simplicity
Wildermyth’s graphic design is above all simple, and therefore extremely pleasant to read. Of course, not everyone has to like the style, and this one reminds me of board games or children’s books, but it absolutely cannot be denied its charm. The eyes do not get tired during the game, which is pulling for long hours, which is another great advantage. The soundtrack is also very pleasing to the ear and fits perfectly with the overall picture.
