A tale of those who fought with nightmares – a review of “Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince”

A fairy tale, though dark, beautiful is time. Is this the Trine 4 this time?

Come, children, sit in a circle. Let me just find my glasses … Oh, they are! What do you want a fairy tale about today? About the heroes? Should there be a prince too? And also forest animals? All right, there will be something for you, kids. Remember the noble knight Pontius, the wise wizard Amadeus and the resourceful Zoya? Then listen to the story of how they saved the kingdom from great evil for the fourth time.

Wolves, hedgehogs and other nightmares

What also did our heroes face? This time, the Astral Academy asked for help, from which Prince Selius, who did not control his power, escaped. The unfortunate nobleman, completely unintentionally, summoned his nightmares to the world, and these attacked the poor inhabitants of the area, creating havoc and mess. Of course, the three of us did not dare to refuse a noble organization and joined forces once again to embark on a search mission. As you probably guessed, they faced many adversities. In addition to fighting sleepy dreams that took the shape of terrible wolves, hedgehogs, badgers and monsters, they struggled with a whole host of puzzles. And so they changed the courses of rivers, reflected rays of light, made crossings of steel and ropes, and also benefited from the kindness of the happy fauna and flora. While most of the puzzles were solved in the blink of an eye, they also happened to pause longer at some of the puzzles. Why did the wayward prince flee from the Astral Academy and why did he refuse to return to it? You have to find out for yourself.

As you probably remember, each of our heroes has its own merits. Zoya, an agile thief, masters her rope masterfully, pulling herself to inaccessible places, making it a rope bridge and suspending various items. She is also familiar with magic, thanks to which she picks up objects on a magic rope and shoots from her bow arrows that burn with fire or chill with their icy aura. Pontius, a virtuous knight and lover of eating contests, with his shield can stop magic arrows, change the course of a falling stream of water or rays of light, push heavy things with great force, and glide like a paraglider. Unfortunately, the poor fellow sowed his hammer somewhere, although he does not seem to care too much about it. Amadeus the wizard, a master of magic, loves to support his companions by creating steel chests,

Through forests, through forests …

How is the kingdom doing there? The sun paints beautiful pictures with its rays, breaking through the dense foliage and sparkling on the sheets of crystalline water, the lush vegetation has bloomed with many multicolored flowers, the snow-capped peaks have covered themselves with snow-white fluff, and the chambers of the Prince Selius family house are bursting at the seams with gilded furniture and lots of miraculous decorative ornaments. Probably more than once the heroes wanted to stop for a moment and admire how beautiful their world is, and its beauty cannot be shaken by even the darkness of nightmares. Also dungeons or ruins, although much less friendly, are definitely charming here. And the heroes themselves and other inhabitants of the kingdom? Oh, what beautiful clothes they cover, how dignified the robes and cloaks flutter in the wind, how many ornaments are on them, how detailed they have been sewn.

And what is a good story without beautiful music? Our friends are constantly accompanied by a charming melody, enveloping everyone who loves it with peace and idyll, and in dangerous moments it can also arouse both anxiety and curiosity. Can’t you hear her? Listen to me, dear children, because it is really worth it. The background music is one thing and another is the sounds of the action. The thief’s ice arrows crackle with a frosty aura, the movements of the sword whistle through the air, the creations of Amadeus’ magic resonate with the metallic sound of metal sheets, and nature does not let the birds forget about itself. What happened? Don’t you understand what the heroes are saying? Unfortunately, they don’t know Polish, but everything is written nicely. After all, real fairy tales are read, right?

Thus, my dear children, the adventures of our fairy-tale heroes are drawn, whose fate pushes them to save the kingdom. Regardless of whether you will experience this story alone or even as four, you will surely enjoy a beautiful story full of riddles, magic and fighting nightmares. As every fairy tale has a happy ending, my fairy tale ends with these positive words.
