As a young boy, he did not expect that in a dozen or so years he would become such an important person in the Hollywood world. How did his career start?
Tom Holland was born on June 1, 1996 in Kingston upon Thames, London. He spent his childhood at the Donhead Preparatory School in Wimbledon, but he does not mention the time he spent there positively. He was harassed by peers who mocked his interest in dancing and his learning difficulties due to dyslexia. Despite the difficulties he encountered, he continued his dance studies at the Nifty Feet Dance School, where he was noticed by Lunne Page, who was already a recognizable choreographer at that time. Two years later, after several castings, he appeared in a musical at the famous West End in Billy Elliot the Musicalas Michael, a friend of the main character. In 2008, he played the title character in the same musical, collecting positive reviews from critics who were impressed by his dancing and acting skills.
In 2010, he lent his voice to the character of Shō in the English language version of Arrietta’s Secret World, and two years later, he appeared in The Impossible as Lucas Bennett, winning acclaim from both critics and associates on the film set. His performance has been recognized through various awards such as the Nevada Critics Awards, the National Board of Review and the Hollywood Spotlight Award. He also received nominations for Saturn, Critics Choice and Goya Awards.
The next step in his career was his performance in the film Lost City Z , where he starred as Jack Fawcett. Soon after, he auditioned for the role of Spiderman in Captain America: Civil War , despite having a terrible fear of spiders. For this role, he received the Saturn statuette, as well as the Golden Schmoes Awards. In 2017, he was also awarded the prestigious BAFTA award in the category of the greatest acting hope of cinema. He also starred in Spiderman: Homecoming and Spiderman: Far From Home , continuing the adventure as Peter Parker. He also appeared as Spiderman in other Marvel productions – Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.. Despite his young age, for his achievements to date, he received a total of 9 statuettes and 10 nominations for prestigious awards, including, in addition to BAFTA and Saturn, such as People’s choice, Annie and Critic’s choice.
