What was and what will be
Steve Rogers is dead. His shield and costume have been taken over by Bucky Barnes, who is trying his best to fulfill Captain America’s mission. However, it is not easy for him. When Nick Fury lost power, the former Winter Soldier was outlawed and must go into hiding. And not only him. Also Falcon or Black Widow are not very welcome. In addition, Norman Osborn created the Hammer unit, also known as the Dark Avengers, in which former villains such as Bullseye and Venom took over the duties of superheroes. This turn of events facilitates the actions of Red Skull, who, with the help of Doctor Doom, intends to implement one of his most terrible plans in history. In this difficult situation, however, there is hope. It turns out that Rogers is not dead, but has only been suspended in the past and relives his adventures over and over again.
Conspiracies and plots
Captain America. Revivalthis is the sixth volume in this series. As in the case of the previous ones, also this time its author is an outstanding screenwriter, winner of several Eisner or Harvey awards, Ed Brubaker. He has proved to us many times that he can perfectly combine crime fiction with superhero stories. It is no different in this case. For most of the comic book, all the heroes, bad and good alike, try to tip the tide in their favor with cunning plans. Osborn creates his special unit, Red Skull works with Doom, and Bucky seeks help from Reed Richards. We also have a great story of Steve Rogers, who is almost at the end of his tether and only miraculously manages not to go mad when he has to relive the worst moments of his life once again. However, when all the puzzles are solved, a battle begins, which fans will surely love. A wonderful and spectacular spectacle is a great culmination of the notebook and a moment of rebirth for the main character. Although it is worth adding that Agent Carter also goes hand in hand with him, and after many turbulences and torments, she can finally breathe and return to normal.
The entire comic has a rather gloomy atmosphere and a serious tone, and the events presented are unforgettable. There is a solid dose of good action and great story twists here. Therefore, all this may be disturbed by a small dose of bizarre humor that simply does not fit in with the whole thing. Well, when new heroes appear in subsequent frames, there is usually a window next to them with a brief information about who we are dealing with. The creators decided to serve us jokes in the style of “Ant-Man. I don’t want to be here. If it hadn’t been all raised up, it would have been pretty funny, and it just doesn’t fit in here somehow.
Change for better!
Principal Artist of the Sixth Volume of Captain Americais Bryan Hitch, who took over from Stevie Epting. And although you could not complain about the previous artist, the change turned out to be good for the series. The album still retains its dirty, gloomy atmosphere straight out of a crime fiction. However, it also gives a certain breath of freshness. The new cartoonist, unlike his predecessor, does not pay as much attention to the faces (although these still look very realistic), but gives us a different perspective on the events. We can see the fate of the heroes from a wider perspective, which makes the fighting scenes look even better. Another thing worth emphasizing is that while the whole thing is in a more modern comic book style, when we go back with Rogers into his past, you can see references to the older Marvel series.. Everything becomes more retro, which is great for the overall perception of the comic.
A great comeback!
Steve Rogers probably couldn’t think of a better return to the Marvel world. I must admit that Brubaker created a really great comic book rune. First, he surprised everyone by killing a true pop culture icon, and then restored it in a big way. In Captain America. In the rebirth , almost everything is fine-tuned. There are plenty of twists and turns, great clashes and emotional moments. Each of the presented characters has something to offer us and is remembered. Also in terms of graphics, details were refined and we were offered beautiful illustrations. Egmont also contributed to all this. Polish publishers put the story in a hardcover and added a gallery of covers. Will such a high level be maintained in the next volume, entitled The Trial of Captain America? We will find out soon!
