Beware of spoilers!
As expected from The Last of Us , Episode 7 once again left fans distraught over the fate of the show’s main characters. If you think the pain is over, you’re wrong. Shortly after the final episode aired, HBO revealed a trailer for the season’s penultimate episode.
Joel (Pedro Pascal), as most believe, seems to be making a full recovery or at least able to walk. At one point, Joel embraces Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who looks bloody from head to toe. This is followed by a group of characters who appear to be villains from the other two episodes. See the video below:
What next for Joel?
As episode 6 showed fans – obviously after a brief time jump after Henry and Sam’s deaths – Joel is now suffering from panic attacks. Although it looks like he survived the attack of the invaders, he will have to take care of his sanity.
We wanted to explore the impact of what happened to Joel after Henry and Sam, despite the significant amount of time that has passed, and it is shown when he comes out of the cabin and clutches his chest. What happens is that Joel has a panic attack and he doesn’t know why. It’s your body telling you that you’re in terrible danger, but you don’t understand why. In this episode, Joel has to come to terms with how terrified he is that Ellie might die and it will be his fault. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll see how many times Joel tried to help her and failed her. And these are the things he dwells on. Very often, if you’ve been traumatized as deeply as Joel, the things you do well are overlooked, but you will exaggerate your failures and tragedies until they threaten to consume you.
