The latest post of the CEO of Gearbox Software on Twitter leaves no doubt to the players – the studio is working on a new game from the Borderlands series . What’s more, he is preparing something really “big”.
More specifically, in the aforementioned tweet, Randy Pitchford announced that he is currently looking for new developers who would like to become part of something big, part of the popular Gearbox Software series, which the studio is currently working on.
But this entry was preceded by the previous one, in which the CEO of the studio denied rumors that Gearbox Software was to co-create another Borderlands with another studio or completely withdraw from production:
I was told there were rumors that the Gearbox would be “helping” or “co-creating” the new Borderlands game (or any new spin-off of the game). These rumors are NOT true. Gearbox is the lead developer of every future Borderlands franchise game (and any Borderlands related game ) without contributing to it.
Unfortunately, Pitchford has not specified exactly what he means by the term “big” in the case of his studio’s iconic series, but the most likely scenario seems to be the continuation of Borderlands 3, which premiered in 2019. If this is the case, the project is still at an early stage of development, because the next team members to work on the game are still actively sought by the studio.
