Typical but also relaxing plot
Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings thanks to the Galapagos edition I was able to watch it for the first time. I didn’t know anything about this movie except that maybe it’s average. Or at least, such voices circulated on the Internet. I already know that this opinion is not surprising, the plot is actually average, but the potential viewer gets something comfortable to watch. The heroes played their roles as they should. Don’t feel like history comes full circle. This is another movie modeled on a slightly modified Campbell monomite, but that doesn’t bother you as the characters are just likeable. The action is so fast that it doesn’t get boring. And some interesting plot tropes develop the story. I haven’t noticed too many logical flaws, but in my humble opinion, Shaun could hide his identity better. Although to be honest it also added charm to the friendship of the two main characters. Just the title Shang-Chi and Katy. You can see that they adore each other, trust each other and just want to live their lives together. Really nice – sometimes too relaxed considering the circumstances around them, but it also adds comfort to watching – report. The main character and his settlements with the film’s antagonist are presented very well, which is emphasized by one of the additional materials available in this edition. The real definition of family was tried and it worked. Transmediality that makes Marvel world better
I still love about Marvel movies that they are set in one coherent world. Even if this world turns out to be a multiverse. Information about past stories is not forgotten, and the blip continues, although with each movie less and less, it has an impact on this allotope. The viewer is affected by the introduction of characters known to us from previous parts of the MCU. Wong, who only appears for a moment, played his role perfectly and emphasized his character.
In Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings , we’ll even welcome a face that fans may have forgotten. Trevor Slattery, who as you know had previously had a record with the Ten Rings organization, has not changed! Ben Kingsley played it almost as much, and even better, as in the movie Iron Man 3and it is an amazing switch for regular viewers. Listening to him was great, and his relationship with Morris was written just perfect. The introduction of new characters also had another effect – the Marvel world is growing. This year’s Doctor Strange will benefit from these characters in the multiverse of insanity. I can feel it already. I also recommend watching the scene after the credits, MCU fans will not be disappointed.

The choreography of the fights is surprising but effects are painful
Apart from the interestingly used potential of this world of narration, the choreography of the fights turned out to be just as good. Beautiful camera movements, perfectly played blows, and most importantly – emotions that can be seen in the movements. Heroes react to different kinds of hits, and the only thing I could fault is that there is not enough blood. Although this lack was in stark contrast to her appearance at times when the hard blow was usually felt. It could have been an aesthetic move, but I still think it could be done better. An example would be Daredevilfrom Netflix, where the fights and the amount of blood contrasting with the hero’s damage are still very much ahead compared to this movie. The magic fights I feared the most were also interesting. I mean the shots and the budget that has been allocated to them. The title ten rings look really realistic. I was surprised because the additional materials show that the hero did not even have them in his hands during the filming. Everything else is a big downside.
The effects of the special movement of the “living” forest, monsters, driving a car, the ubiquitous greenscreens – all this is striking and really, even for Marvel, it just looks bad. I don’t know if it’s the budget’s fault (very possible), but it’s just that some VFX’s are too conspicuous. Until sometimes I wanted to shout on the TV to make the characters turn, because what was behind them did not show the covered forests in the background that should be there. It looked like a simple wall that was supposed to model these forests. This is most evident in the antagonist’s fight with Li.

An edition that gives hope
Regarding the release, the Galapagos did a great job. Starting with a nicely animated menu in the style of a movie, going through a wonderful looking player, ending with additional material. Blu-ray users have the opportunity to watch the mishaps from the movie, how the story of the father and son was built, cut scenes, backstage or, most importantly, listen to the director’s comment while watching the movie.
The father and son story building, backstage and commentary suggest it to Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings heart and passion were inserted. The director shows his best, always helping the actors. Attempting to build a relationship matters, and the comment from the authors that we can include while watching the movie presents itself as a solid addition. The clipped scenes show without further comment why they were removed. They really didn’t fit, and it showed, but the director knew it. Destin Daniel Cretton showed in additional materials that he wanted to make an important movie out of it, and not another blockbuster. Unfortunately, he did not manage it, but the viewing comfort is ensured. I will probably come back to this edition in some time to see the whole commentary freshly. It sounds really fascinating and the viewer can learn about the methodology of making such films and the thought processes associated with it.
