The popular occult detective from DC may soon have another film adaptation of his adventures. It is supposed to be a completely new production that will go to the HBO Max website. It will not be a continuation of one of the previous images.
Everything was first reported by Illuminerdi, which found the first casting information about the series. The production is to be related to another project based on DC comics – Justice League Dark . John Constantine’s former actors – Keanu Reeves and Matt Ryan – are not considered to play the protagonist again.
The creators focus on a complete reboot of the characters. According to reports, a young actor in his twenties is wanted for the main role. What’s more, it promises to be a significant break with the source material, as Constantine would be played by a representative of an ethnic minority. The favorite of producers is said to be known, among others from Venom or Rogue 1 , Riz Ahmed.
The series is to be hosted by Bad Robot executive producer JJ Abrams. The company of the famous filmmaker recently signed a lucrative contract with the WarnerMedia group and AT&T for a long-term partnership. The screenwriter of the picture is to be just starting his career Guy Bolton.
