At the extraordinary Museum of Natural History, the equally extraordinary Enola, a veterinarian specializing in helping creatures from fairy tales and legends. And they can be found in many places, as long as you look for them well. How to find them and most importantly, how to help them? The answer lies in the new comic book series for little ones – Enola et les animaux extraordinaires. The first volume of the series was published in March this year.
The title character of the series Enola et les animaux extraordinaires is ready to go to the end of the world to save strange creatures in need or danger. The first volume of her adventures is a collective album that contains two original volumes: Unforgettable Gargoyle and For the rescue of unicorns .
In the story The Unruly Gargoyle , Enola is called to a town, where the gargoyle that adorns the wall of the church keeps pouring water on people leaving the mass. The parishioners are fed up with the unruly sculpture and demand its removal. A young veterinarian inquisitively investigates the cause of the gargoyle’s behavior. Initial diagnosis does not solve the problem, however – it is not the fear of heights that causes the creature’s strange behavior. Will Enola discover why the gargoyle stubbornly turns to face the church’s exit and makes the town’s lives unpleasant?
In the short story Save the Unicorns , Enola investigates the cause of the strange behavior of a group of unicorns. Over the years, the creatures lived in peace with the inhabitants of a nearby village and adhered to the boundaries in the forest where they could move. One day, however, unicorns invaded people’s territory and scared the children. In addition, the trees that had been magic in the forest had lost their power and made it impossible for people to work. Will the young vet discover what is really going on in the village?
The screenwriter of the series Enola et les animaux extraordinaires is Joris Chamblain, the co-author of many stories for children, including the Wisienka Memoirs known to the Polish reader. The author of the illustrations – Lucile Thibaudier – is a graphic designer who has been publishing for several years and has gained recognition with drawings for comic books written by Chamblain, incl. to the Sorcières sorcières cycle .
In May, the second volume of the series will be published, which will include the short stories Hunting for a Kraken and Lost Yeti .
