A lamp, a genie and 3 wishes – the anniversary of the premiere of Aladdin

On November 25, 1992, one of Disney’s most iconic films premiered. Today, more than twenty years later, we are returning to the story of Aladdin.

The film tells the well-known story of a young Aladdin, who falls in love with princess Jasmine, which he cannot reach. Despite his great desire to marry her, he knows that as an ordinary thief without a fortune, he has no chance. By accident, however, a mysterious lamp falls into his hands, which turns out to be a home to a wish-fulfilling Djinn. As a result of this event, the young boy returns to the city, this time as Prince Ali. Convinced of impending success caused by enormous fortune, he tries to win the favor of Princess Jasmine. However, the dangerous Jafar stands in his way.

The animation was directed by John Musker and  Ron Clements, who, with the help of Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, also created the script for the film. In the original language version, we could hear Scott Weinger as Aladdin, Robin Williams as the Genie, Linda Larkin as Jasmine, and Jonathan Freeman as Jafar. Although the film had its premiere in 1992, it could be watched in the Polish language version a year later, on December 6. Aladdin is one of the most liked animations so far, despite his age. He has also been nominated and awarded many times by critics. He won two Oscar awards in the categories of “Best Original Music” and “Best Song” ( A Whole New Worldby Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle). He was also awarded the Golden Globes in the same categories.
